This is probably not the best time of year to find a deal on an aluminum Christmas tree. Right now, are you asking yourself, "Hey, what's the deal with aluminum trees anyway?" Well, like anything else we collect, we are trying to recapture something from our childhood. We want to make our contemporary Christmas as special as the ones we remember. There are those, too, who want a certain mid-century look for their Christmas decorations.
With aluminum trees there were 3 principal manufactures, Peco, Sparkle and Evergleam. There is a style of branch tip called POM POM that is more desirable because it was on the premium trees in the early '50s. You may also pick up a "color wheel". This is a light with a colored plastic disk that slowly rotates, changing the look of your aluminum tree. (Wow, that's kitsch!)
The ultimate prize for tree hunters is a pink tree. If you ever find a pink one, buy it at any cost, you'll sell it for more.
Here's the link to the auction on eBay. ***Cost 132.50, 222.00
*** Two hundred twenty two dollars, was it worth it? Whatcha think?
