Speaking of eBay, here is something unusual I picked up last week? It looks like a 7" 45 rpm record, but is actually a 6" 78 rpm record. It's pretty neat. It's a record of Santa Claus delivering a personal Christmas wish, in this case, to someone named Ralphie. On the record Santa actually says Hello Ralphie! At the end of the record Santa must get on with his business but he sings and asks all listening to sing along to Jingle Bells. I don't know when I will be able to share it but here are the scans. The record is one-sided. The other side has the Zodiac signs? Soooo nifty! Does anyone know more about them? King? Ernie? Captain? Anybody?
What gets me is that odd Santa-to-zodiac conversion chart on the bottom of the disc.

Dan: these things were really popular during the very early 50's and then they dropped off the face of the Earth. They used to be done in little booths like the photo booths that you can mug to your hearts content. They were located in Woolworth's and other places like that. I remember vividly that my Mum would take me to the machines on every birthday and we'd record an album of my singing/talking voice. You could add background music too; I remember singing with Alvin and the Chipmunks and also Elvis. They cost a quarter to buy and record. Sadly, I never remember these machines beyond 1958. Hope this helps! Bee

My Grandfather used to send recorded letters home on something like this. It was from a kind of a coin-op recording booth, at least one had the zodiac on the flip most had hearts. A personal message from santa sounds like the same kind of thing
